Built with the help of National Lottery funding, and overseen by a Management Committee, Wilberfoss Community Centre has been a hive of activity since it opened its doors in 1999. The day-to-day operation is carried out by paid part-time staff. Please get in touch with our Centre Manager, Sarah Wills, who will be happy to give you a guided tour.
Funding from Sport England , the FCC Communities Foundation and Hull & East Riding Charitable Trust in 2020 allowed us to fit acoustic sound boards and replace curtains. It also provided an opportunity to install a new lighting system and replace the front door to an automatic entrance system. Other upgrades have included a free fully-fitted kitchen provided by Howdens Joinery and a solid maple floor that's ideal for dancing and fitness.
Continuous upgrades help to secure the future of Wilberfoss Community Centre and in May 2024 we received further funding from the Hull & East Riding Charitable Trust to add occupancy sensor lighting to reduce our carbon footprint. In August 2024 we were awarded £14,000.00 from the National Lottery Community Fund to continue our sustainability journey. Energy Assessments paid for by funds secured through the VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Feasibility Study Grant identified several upgrades but they are big projects and reliant on further grant funding.
Further funding success in 2024, through the UK Shared Prosperity Digital Fund, allowed us to fit a mesh wifi system and wifi speakers in the main function rooms. Funding was also provided to offer opportunities to help community members improve their digital skills. A group of volunteers offer monthly Digital Clinics.
The Centre plays host to regular and one-off users.
Hiring rates are charged per room, per hour and start from as little as £11 for non-profit making bookings, rising to £13 for semi-commercial users and £20 for commercial hirers. Three main function rooms are separated by moveable partitions, so they can be combined to make larger spaces for bigger groups and activities.
In addition to the main function rooms, we have a Meeting Room and a small consulting room. These rooms can be hired hourly, or on a half-day or full-day basis.
